Convergence: Managing + Designing

The Managing + Designing conference will explore the convergence of management and design through short position papers and extensive conversation among a select group of leaders in both fields. The position papers will focus on different approaches to important issues in this area, representing the pluralism of approaches that are emerging in our different institutions and in professional practice.

Position Statements

Each Participant is asked to submit a short (1000 word maximum) statement of their position on one or more issues raised by the convergence. Papers may address any of a wide range of topics relevant to our theme. Examples include:

Invited Participants

We are inviting an international group of scholars who share an interest in how management and design can benefit each other. The participants represent management and design schools as well as leading practitioners in design and management. There are no registration fees. Each participant is asked to submit a short position statement (1000 word maximum), which will be published in the conference proceedings and distributed beforehand.

Sponsors, Location and Language

Sponsored by the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in partnership with the Cleveland Institute of Art and the journal Design Issues, the conference will be held at the Weatherhead School's Frank Gehry designed Peter B. Lewis Building, located in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Presentations will be in English.
